Диалог 14. DEBBY’S NEW FLAT.

Amy: Debby has a new flat at last. It’s lovely. (Она хорошая!)

Alan: it?

Amy: Yes, we must go and pay her a visit.

Alan: Must we? (Это пример т.н. "вопроса-переспроса". Они выражают различные эмоции: удивление, несогласие, радость и многие другие чувства. Могут переводится на русский язык, как "Да?"; "Неужели?"; "Вот здорово!" и проч. )

Amy: Yes, darling. We can go there tonight (сегодня вечером). Debbyexpecting us.

Alan: Oh, dear. Tonight? It’s so cold.

Amy: But darling, it n’t cold at all. It’s nice and warm. (Пример т.н. "устойчивого выражения". Такие выражения следует учить наизусть. На русский язык они не переводятся дословно, т.е. каждое слово не нужно переводить отдельно.  В данном контексте перевод - "довольно тепло")

Alan: Hum…it far?

Amy: Well, it’s in Hampstead.

Alan: In Hampstead? But that’s miles and miles from here. (Еще один пример "устойчивого выражения". Можно перевести как "Туда ехать и ехать" или "Это не близкий путь"). No Amy, Inot going. ("Я не поеду". 2 модуль "серый" или "Present continuous" можно употреблять в разговоре для выражения действия в ближайшем будущем, когда это/и действие/я запланированы. В данном случае употребляется отрицательное предложение, означающее, что планов поехать куда-то нет.)

Amy: But therea good bus service (автобусное сообщение) to Hempstead.

Alan: Look here, Amy. Must I really go? Tell me all about Debby’s flat. Then I needn’t go.

Amy: All right, listen. It has two rooms and a kitchen. There two windows and one door in each room. Therefour walls in each room. Oh, and there’s a ceiling in each room and a floor, too. (См. подраздел "I have`I have got; There is/There are" в разделе "Учебные материалы" на этом сайте.)

Alan:Good heavens, Amy! ("Боже мой!". Восклицательное предложение, в данном случае выражающее иронию: "Боже мой! Да что ты говоришь? Неужели? Как может быть такое?") Every room has four walls, a ceiling and a floor. You needn’t tell me that.

Amy: Yes, of course. And wait, there’s a key hole (замочная скважина) in each door.

Alan: And a key in each door. All right, darling, wegoing.

Amy: We must go and see Debby’s new flat, Alan.

Alan: But it’s so cold tonight.

Amy: No, it’s nice and warm.

Alan: Hampsteadmiles and miles from here.

Alan: you ready, (to BE ready - б.готовым) Amy? It’s a long way (далеко) to Hempstead. Let’s go.

Amy: But Alan, we must take Debby a present (to take a present - взять/купить подарок; to give a present - подарить; to give smth. as a present - подарить что-л. качестве подарка).

Alan: A present? Oh well, let’s give her some flowers from our garden. Theresome lovely daffodils (нарциссы) right (прямо; вот тут) under our bedroom window.

Amy: Flowersall right. But let’s give her something useful (полезный/ая/ое/ые) too. Curtains (a curtain - занавеска), for example (например).

Alan: Curtains? All right. Let’s buy her some curtains.

Amy: Or a lamp, perhaps.

Alan: Good, let’s buy her a lamp.

Amy: There’s a good shop not far from Debby’s place. Let’s call in (to call in - зайти куда-л.; забежать к-л. ) it on our (my; his; your; their) way (по пути куда-л.) to Debby’s (-'s - означает место, где живет или находится кто-л).

Alan: Look here (= слушай разг.), Amy. I have an idea. Let’s give Debby that funny lamp from our bedroom (спальня).

Amy: What? Youcrazy (to BE crazy - сходить с ума), Alan.

Alan: Why? What’s wrong (to BE wrong with - не так; не правильно) with that? Flowers from our garden, and a lamp from our own bedroom. Very nice.

Amy: Ivery sorry (to BE sorry - извиняться; "Извини/те"), Alan, but we can’t do that. That very (этот самый/эта самая)  lamp a present from Debby.

LISTEN AND REPEAT

Alan: you ready, Amy? It’s a long way to Hempstead. Let’s give Debby some flowers.

Amy: Let’s buy something useful too. Curtains, for example. There’s a good shop not far from Debby’s place. Let’s call in there on our way.

Alan: I have a better idea. Let’s give her that funny lamp from our bedroom.

Amy: You’re crazy, Alan.

Alan: What’s wrong with that?

Alan: Heresome flowers for you, Debby. Daffodils from our own garden.

 Debby: Oh, theybeautiful. Thank you, Alan.

Amy: And here’s another (еще; другой) present for you.

Debby: Whatit? Curtains? How lovely! (Как здорово!) . Thank you, Amy. Thank you, Alan. Younice. (Как мило!) Now I must get (to get - зд. приносить) a vase (ваза) for the daffodils (Debby leaves).

Amy: Look, Alan. Debby got a new radio.

Alan: Where?

Amy: Over there (Вон там!). On that little table. Let’s buy a radio like (это не глагол "to like", это наречие "like" - как) that.

Alan: What? We’ve () got a good radio already.

(Debby returns- возвращается)

Debby: Here we (Ну вот!). These daffodilsreally beautiful.

Amy: We admire (to admire - любоваться чем-то) your new radio, Debby.

Debby: Oh, yes, it’s a good radio. But I must put the flowers on (to put - ставить) that little table. Help me, Alan, please. Take (to take off - убирать откуда-л.) the radio off the table and put it on my desk.

Alan: Certainly (конечно), Debby.

Amy: Alan can also (еще) hang curtains for you, Debby. He’s very good at (good at smth/DOING  smth - хорошо что-л. делать; хорошо получается) jobs like (как) that.

Alan: Oh,I? All right, I can try.

Debby: Thank you, Alan.

Amy: Husbandsuseful. You ought (нужно) to have a husband, Debby.

Alan: Oh no, she needn’t (не нужно). I can always come and do up jobs for her (ей).
